Michael - Reverse Total Shoulder Replacement

Some 15 years ago I had routine rotator cuff surgery due to numerous injuries in my youth.  I am now 70 years old and in recent years have noticed significant loss of mobility in my shoulder and increased pain.  I was told by a local medical source that I had a total tear of the rotator cuff and substantial loss of cartilage and a frozen shoulder.  I was uncomfortable with having a total shoulder replacement as this was considered new technology until I ran into a friend who happens to be a senior physical therapist for professional tennis players.  He recommended I seek treatment at Columbia-Presbyterian, who have leading practitioners of shoulder and elbow solutions for athletes.  I interviewed Dr. Levine and he, “impressed me first as a person I could be confident with and as a doctor in the area that my problems existed.”  He demonstrated the ability of his team’s and the hospital’s extensive experience with the new technology that I needed as well as the tremendous credentials of the entire team.  His team held my hand from start to finish including a very arduous therapy period.  "I felt I was the most important patient they had."  I went from being a near cripple in my right arm to having the same pain-free mobility that I had as a youngster.  I am physically and mentally pleased with the results both short and long-term.  I can’t forget the hospital as an institution.  "Their people are great and everything went like clockwork."
