Frank - Total Shoulder Replacement

My name is Frank Pomarico and I am a businessman and football coach at Lumen Christ High School in Jackson, Michigan.  I am also a motivational speaker to high schools and different men organizations like the Knights of Columbus and Rotary Clubs.  My  journey began at Saint Francis Prep in Brooklyn, New York and leads to my becoming the captain of the Notre Dame 1973 National Championship football team coached by Ara Parseghian.   I was then drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in the NFL  and went on to play for four years in the Canadian Football League.  I was not very big or fast, but was driven to succeed.  I did everything I could to reach my goal of playing for Ara Parseghian at Notre Dame. My enthusiasm and passion were great, but I didn't realize that I was wearing out my shoulders.  The troubles I had with my shoulders as a result of playing contact sports and over training were limited range of motion and painful arthritis. ┬áSimple things like putting on my clothes hurt and even sleeping was uncomfortable.

Last year I visited Dr. Bigliani (at the suggestion of a former Saint Francis Prep teammate, John Basti) and he suggested that I have a shoulder replacement.  I was very impressed with Dr. Bigliani’s professionalism.  He seemed to have a real human touch and I didn't feel like he was just treating my injury.   I had my left shoulder replaced in July 2009.  The pain is no longer there and I now have full range of motion.  My shoulder feels like I'm sixteen again.  I can throw a ball, lift weights, sleep through the night and get dressed without pain.  My experience was great and when I have to have my other shoulder replaced I will go back to Dr. Bigliani to get the best care on earth.
