Charles A. Popkin, MD, specializes in orthopedic care for the pediatric, adolescent and collegiate athletes. Dr. Popkin is a graduate of Colgate University and received his medical degree from Tulane University. He completed his internship and orthopedic residency at the University of Miami-Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he served as administrative Chief Resident. During his training in Miami, Dr. Popkin developed a passion for sports medicine involving the growing athlete. Pursuing this area of interest, he spent two additional years in fellowship training. The first was a sports medicine fellowship at the Minnesota Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Institute (MOSMI) and the second was in pediatric orthopedics at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada. Dr. Popkin is a candidate member of the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine, the Arthroscopic Association of North America and the American Academy of Orthopeadic Surgeons. His special areas of interest include arthroscopic and open treatment of the knee, shoulder, elbow, ankle and hip, general pediatric orthopedics and pediatric fracture care.
